Brandon:
Thank you for contacting us about the ingredients in Quaker Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal. Your family's well-being and the reputation of our products for quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us and we take your concerns seriously.
With regards to all Quaker products, if any of the top eight allergens (Milk, Egg, Fish, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Shellfish, Soy, Wheat) are an ingredient or a component of the ingredient, the allergen will be listed in the Ingredients list or included in a Contains statement immediately after the Ingredients list. We label according to FDA requirements.
The May Contain, or advisory statement, is a voluntary labeling practice which alerts our allergic consumers to a potential health risk. There are two scenarios that may necessitate an advisory statement: The product is run on a line that also produces another product(s) that has a different allergen profile, and it has been demonstrated that the sanitation and allergen cleaning procedures are unable to completely remove the residual allergen, resulting in possible cross contact. An ingredient that has been formulated into the product carries an advisory statement from the supplier. The advisory statement for that given ingredient then gets added to our label. In both of these cases, a review and assessment of the product (and ingredients it includes), as well as the line(s) used is conducted to determine advisory labeling requirements.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you again for your interest in Quaker Instant Oatmeal.
